Renault Espace III Pollen Filters

Tools: Tx 20 Driver, a vacuum cleaner and a little patience.

Method Starting on the nearside locate the sound proofing panel on the upper bulkhead. This is held by 2 plastic buttons which unscrew by hand. Behind this you will find a black blank plate which is held by 4 No. Tx 20 screws. Undo these and remove the cover and gasket. place a hand into the void and locate the filter this will just pull out. It is recommended that a vacuum is used to clean any residual debris within the chamber. Locate the new filter in the reverse of the above making sure that it is seated correctly.
The offside is a little trickier (RHD vehicles). as the windscreen wipers need to be swung into the upright position and the ignition turned off. The same operation as the nearside is required to replace the filter. Note the screws are still a little awkward to get at but a little patience is all that is needed. Good Luck Sparks

Purolator polen filters:

these are not the correct dimention. They are a few mm to tall and consequently the filter element becomes deformed when it is fitted resulting in air just flowing around the filter element instead of thru it.

the original Renault filter is a good fit.

Use a mirror to double check the fit. My renault dealer pushed the whole filter too far in resulting in dust and insects flowing right past the whole filter holder.

It is possible to fit the filter without swinging the wipers up
