Re: Dealer Service Plans

If the scheme is endorsed & supported by Renault UK, then the monthly payment cannot be paid directly to the dealership - if you live in Penzance, and take out a plan via your local dealer, then move to Inverness - you cannot be expected to drive your car back to your old dealer for a service.

I used to work with Ford, and this will be similar to the Ford Protect scheme, whereby it is operated & administered by the UK Warranty Department. Customer books car into any franchised dealer, dealer contacts warranty to process payment for items covered; dealer gets paid. Customer will have to pay for any extraneous items not covered by the service plan.

Its really no more complicated or sinister than that; no pyramid schemes or propping up Icelandic Banks!

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Re: Dealer Service Plans

My dad took something similar out when he bought his Suzuki vitara a couple of years ago , and he seems to think its a good idea he pays a sum monthly through direct debit and it cover all his servicing cost and a few other things, they even pick it up and leave him a courtacy car and then bring it back. ( not sure if they all work like that ?)
All a matter of personal choice i suppose.

Re: Dealer Service Plans

Hi Velsatisfied,

I am familiar with the Ford Protect scheme, this is a one off payment and you can go to any dealer in the country. I had one of these in a previous life. The scheme I have been offered is administered by a 3rd party who Renault have appointed. They collect and pass on the money every month to the dealer. All the brouchers have got the Renault badging. You can only have your service at the dealer you purchased the plan from.

Tink: made the comment about its a matter of choice, yea sure but if the dealer is hanging onto your dough, are Renault aware what happens if the dealer goes belly up, or will they pick up the tab!
