Post Megane, will she or won’t she ---- Start

Hi All,

New to the forum so be kind please!

We have a 1998 Megane 1.4 Liberte, over the last few months we have been experiencing starting problems, sometimes the car will start sometimes it won’t. The TDC sensor was replaced following advice from the RAC, this did not solve the problem. The car has had a diagnostic check, which revealed nothing. (No faults logged).

Sometimes the car will start fine for a week or two.

The only link we have to the car not starting is that it seems to be the morning after a heavy downpour. It happened on Saturday and Sunday morning, we left it until the afternoon (when it was drier and warmer) then it started fine both times.

There are no obvious signs of water ingress. The Plugs and leads have also been changed.

Any advice would be appreciated, as we don't know what to do next and are desperate to get it sorted.

Check the connection to the battery (had very similar problem once) and also is there any possibility the new TDC could be faulty?

Welcome to the forum by the way

I would recommend that you have the starter motor checked and also the throttle pedentometer.
Also get the tdc sensor checked just incase it is faulty.

Send a message via MSN to GeordieClio
Does the car crank over? or not start at all?

The starter motor connections can corrode which can cause intermittent starting, I think this was covered in a recent post too. Same symptoms as yours!
