Bodywork damage after service?

Hi all,

I just noticed that there are some very deep scratches that I don't remember seeing pre-service to my car.

In particular, the driver side metal overlap that the door closes on top of has a number of very deep ones. The interior was cleaned so I am wondering if they were careless and did damage in the process. I will check the other sides.

Please advise.

Re: Bodywork damage after service?

I know when i had mine serviced they gave it a free valet and made a right mess of the paintwork.
Never again.

Re: Bodywork damage after service?

It is very possible.

I had similar experiences at a Ford main dealer I used (ironically, I was a manager in a customer service centre for the same manufacturer)...

The difficulty will be in getting them to admit liability, as it wasn't noticed until after the car has left their premises. (a bit like noticing you have been short-changed after leaving the shop).

You can ask them about it, but don't be surprised if they give you a blank look.

I always walk around any car/van which has been away for a repair - it just has to happen once to make you suspicious.

I presume the heavy scratches could be from the seatbelt being caught in the door?

Best of luck,

Re: Bodywork damage after service?

Im suspicious.
when they clean the car for free they are usually guilty of something.
I experienced the same.
All you can do is photograph the car well before you give it to them next time so you can point out any damage before you collect the car
