Squeaking Laguna RT.

Hi All
I have a Renault 1995 Laguna RT 2Ltr. which has developed a squeaking noise, that is as far as I can tell, from the drive belt area, I have changed the belt and indeed the water pump, but the squeak squeaks on.
This noise gets louder as I turn the steering wheel from side to side. This squeak is only present when the car starts in the morning when the vehicle is cold and lasts only a short period of time and then stops, any ideas?
Apart from waiting until the after-noon to start her i'm lost for a cure.

Best Wishes. Phil.

It sounds like a pulley bearing noise, but which one can be difficult to tell sometimes.Your noise is the most difficult to diagnose,as it doesn't do it all the time.

It could be the power steering pump, the alternator or the tensioner pulley(or aircon pump if you have one).

One thing to make sure about is that you have the right belt fitted.A slightly too long a belt would cause a simialr problem. Also, try spraying a little bit of WD40 (or similar) on the belt when it's sqeaking. If this makes it go quiet, then it's a belt problem rather than a bearing problem.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
