More likely the weight - V6s and 2.2 diesels definitely use stiffer springs than the rest of the range up front because those engines are a lot heavier. The 2.0 Turbo GT is the 'sporting' model of the range - from what I can recall, all GTs use stiffer (and shorter) springs too... I cant imagine Renault would have voluntarily stiffened up the front of the V6 which is more of a luxo-barge if they didn't have to.
