Service Plans - are they worth it.

I am now the proud owner of a 2011 Laguna III Sports Tourer 180 GT - three months old ex demo.

I have just received a letter offering me a fixed cost serivce plan for the next three years of 18 pcm.

Anyone any experience of these things - are they worth it?

18pcm works out at 216 per year so i suppose it depends on the mileage you do as to whether it will work for you. If you do 30k a year that means 2 services per year so 216 will work out good value. If you do under 15k per year its probably about average, most main dealers charge in excess of 100 per hour labour. Just as an example if you need new brake discs will this 18pcm cover the labour costs or not?

Re: Service Plans - are they worth it.

In my experience, most service plans normally have an upper limit on how many services are included over a fixed period of time.

Otherwise, it would be carte blanche for taxis & higher-mileage drivers to take advantage of this.

As Saabguy states, check what is (and as importantly, isn't) covered.
