Renault scenic 04 model

I've been looking at changing my car, currently have a 02 scenic the mk2 model.

My wife wants an automatic so was going to change my manual and get the next shape mk3.

there seems to be a lot of people complaining about that model, leaks dashboard problems. not sure if there are just a few problems or a major concern.

anyway if someone could let me know, if they have encountered any problems or have any good words to say/

Re: Renault scenic 04 model

I think the problems all relate to the years 2003-2007. That is what I heard so don't rely to much on it. After that Renault changed something and reliability of the electric components are much better. Even though rust makes rear brakes to be a bit problematic and the hand brake then stops working. Also the parts (don't know the english word) that holds front wheels and lets them swivel (ball joints?) are showing to much play to easily, maybe because the care is on the heavy side. Otherwise a very good and reliable car. Space is fantastic ( I got the short version) and driving is fair, it's not a sports car. We got two kids and love to bring a lot of gear during weekend trips and it fills its purpose perfectly.

If your Scenic is a 2002 model then it's a MK1 Phase2 the MK2 Scenic started production in 2003.
