If you suffer from poor ventilation it could be that your pollen filter needs changing. For the Laguna I have included a section in my how to pictures so that you can perform this reletively simple task yourself.

As for the pollen filter part - this is readily available on ebay for around 2.

Let me know if you have no luck finding one and I'll leave a link..

The washer pumps on most Renaults operate the front and rear just by reversing the polarity of the motor, when these play up you normally get the symptoms you describe regarding you washers, again check your pollen filter I have seen these in the past so clogged up that no air can pass!

Gos! - the first-generation Scenic uses the heater/aircon system from the larger Laguna and should be excellent when it is working properly. I have no complaints with mine - I had the aircon fully serviced when the car was 4 years old (pumped out, dried and re-filled with new gas and compressor oil ). I don't think it actually needed doing, but prevention is better than cure as aircon systems can be horrendously expensive to repair if they go wrong. Ideally the system should be serviced in this manner every 2 years, but if you have a good system it may not be necessary - it's up to you to take the financial risk. My parents traded in their Volvo estate last year for a new one - the aircon system on the old one hadn't been touched for about 8 years and still seemed to be working perfectly.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
Especially concerning the pollen filter maybe causing problem with heating/ventilation.
Laguna II Owner is the pollen filter located the same as your pictures of a laguna in a Scenic?
Sorted out workings of washer on rear wiper, air block in pipe!
