Re: biggest botch job

I have seen numerous bodges in my time such as flour in the gearbox and sawdust in differentials - keeps things quiet just long enough to get the car out of the door.

But the biggets bodge I ever did see was many years ago.
A carpenter arrived one day complaining his Morris 1100 was sitting kinda low on the rear end. I discovered where the subframe mounts bolted to the body totally rotted away - large holes in the boot, etc,.

He arrived back after a weekend and the car was sitting perfect. Flabbergasted I asked how he he fixed it. He gingerly opened the boot to reveal a really neat timber framework held together with bolts, screw, nails, etc, between the boot floor and the parcel shelf. He drove it for another 6 months.
He used to say the whole world was held together with 3 X one and a half inch timber. I had to admire his ingenuity though.

Morgans have been using wood for decades, so I guess that's where he drew his inspiration.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Wouldn't dare. At her age she needs all the looking after she can get.

She did fail the MOT a few weeks ago. Apparently a previous owner had carried out a bodged seat runner repair and it finally failed. You know the one I mean Did pretty well I thought. Lasted over 2 years.

As the seat belt is attached to the seat runners and the seat moved forward under braking that was enough to fail the mot.

Anyway I cut out the offending piece and welded in a new one. Good as new now. 180K on the clock and still going

other than selling a bike that drank more oil than petrol, used water like it was going out of fashion, and had a massive misfire at 4k (fuelling related) for more than i paid for it 6 months previously, and didnt mention any of the faults, which would have been obvious had he taken it for a testride.. i dont do bodges.
