Re: biggest botch job

I've only ever sold one car so far - rest have been scrapped! - and I ended up sort of having to reverse bodge it ... as it was sold to someone thru family, and it went away with a fault _I_ didn't know it had and had to rush to fix two days later to avoid a crapstorm...

(Poor little Polo seemed in perfectly good nick, apart from the crap passenger door that a colleague who ran into the original replaced on the cheap to cover up for not having any insurance ... however it then turned out that after the last engine-bay mod I'd done, I hadn't plumbed the earth leads back in properly. Eventually the remaining strands burnt through, and killed the ECU , which duly started dumping unleaded from the tank into the inlet manifold (...and cylinders... and sump) until the new owner turned the ignition off. Went over, surveyed what was what, luckily had a spare ECU after buying it to use an upgrade chip (original was soldered not socketed)... Refixed the earth leads properly, fit new ECU , drained the oil and put a gallon of fresh in... good as new. Hopefully. Who knows what else may have burned out or what kind of damage may have been done by it massively overfuelling like that... But, it ran, that was the main thing.)

Most of my actual bodges have been in the interest of actually getting myself home...
Currently in tahrey's garage:
Honda CG125, Scott Voltage MX5, dirt, lots of random bottles and tools, porktastic Clio III DCi, dodgy shelves...
