Re: Which models should Renault retain?

Oh, I totally agree that the cars of today are far larger and heavier than in the past but that doesn't have anything to do with the improvements of the engines themselves. They are far superior to older engines in every way.

Anyway, most manufacturers have woken up to the idea of reducing weight - 9 years ago, Jaguar were already making the XJ of Aluminium and its body weighed less than that of a Mini! However, their new engines are so much better than the old engines, that the economy has improved, even on their heavier, steel-bodied cars.

Re: Which models should Renault retain?

To answer the original question i recon renault should not have killed off matra and allowed continued development of the espace it may not have been the overweight thirsty hulk it has become and regardless of what people think the matra product was better made with fewer problems than the renault creation !!

I think their worst mistake was not learning from Nissan the Japanese art of build-quality & mechanical integrity.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
