Laguna: Ready to love again.....

Having some time ago contributted to several scathing reviews regarding my now dead Laguna II 1.6 I am back in the market for an afordable stylish and enjoyable familly car. After a series of bad experiences from 2006 to 2008 I promised I would never buy one of these cars again however this one I've got my eye on ticks all the right boxes and surely they all can't be bad?

The car under consideration now is a 2006 Laguna 2.0 175 Dci with 80Km and an asking price of 3000. Looked pretty clean however the rear discs seem very worn/groved, some blistering on the painted alloys and the engine bay was a bit oily...not something I'm used to seeing nowadays.

Also about to view a 2006 Laguna II 1.9 Dci Previlage, which is a little cheaper at 2600.

Can anyone offer any guidance on any of the 2? What should I be looking out for?

Re: Laguna: Ready to love again.....

Hi there.

Not wishing to reinvent the wheel in this thread, but the faults with the Laguna 2 are well documented & very hard not to find if you conduct a search on the forum.

Personally speaking, if you are minded to buy a Renault again, then I would consider a Laguna 3 (e.g. ) this is by no means the highest-mileage example (there are a couple closer to 3k, but with over 130k miles on them). They seem to be far more reliable (which probably explains just why they have reached such mileages).

You could probably negotiate a discount, and factoring in less to spend on repairs bills - it could well prove to be the wiser purchase.

Just a thought - happy hunting.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Smile Re: Laguna: Ready to love again.....

After years of seething and loathing I am back onboard the Renault wagon again. Over the weekend purchaced a very clean 05 Laguna2 Dynamique 1.9 dCi for 1750 with 109k on the clock. Initial impressions are favorable, all the gadgets work, very little wear and drives not too different to the many new cars I've hired over the past few month. I like the enhancments which came with the facelift and remote/keyless operation still puts a smile on my face.

I still feel a bit peeved that my fear of Laguna (past experience) had me to lose out on a 1.5 dCi Laguna3 @ 3400 and the 06 175 dCi GT which research now show could have been somthing special.

Plans was to hold on to this one for the year then upgrade. But who knows, if it behaves then the family might deceide to keep keep it a bit longer !!
