Smile New Car, Laguna 2.0 Privilege, lots of questions!

Hi,

I have just bought a 53 plate Laguna Privilege 2.0, with 54k miles on the clock. So far I am very pleased, although Ive only had it today, so not experienced much yet. I have noticed a couple of things, nothing serious, but I would like to sort if possible. Any help is appreciated:

1) I only got the car with one keycard. this is not too much of a problem as my wife and I can only drive it one at a time, however I would like a spare at some point, and the manual says that some settings may get stored on the keycard, so you can have your own one, not sure if this applies to my model? How much does a replacement set you back? Can you code them yourself using the slot in car? I have used OBD software and the like a lot before on BMW and Ford, what software does Renault use for coding, and can I code keycards with that?

2) I cant find the rear screen sunblind, the hooks are there in the roof, and the rear doors have theirs. Am I being blind (forgive the pun) or has someone nipped off with it?

3) Tyre sensors/system - It appears that 2 sensors are missing (well, 2 wheels have ordinary valves) however I cannot find any display that shows the tyre pressures, there are no warnings, no alerts nothing. Is it possible that someone has turned this off? If I get 2 new sensors and get them fitted can I re-initialise the system?

4) I like to mess around and get into the guts of a car, are there any features, hidden bits, computery things that are worth knowing about?

Thanks a lot in advance, Im looking forward to talking to you all.

Andy

Re: New Car, Laguna 2.0 Privilege, lots of questions!

Hi Andy,

The Privilege is a lovely model, nice one

1) New key card from Renault was £140 last time I checked, but prices vary from dealer to dealer. No, personal settings are only for models with electric memory seats (the Initiale), so unless your car had that optional extra then it won't remember personal settings. Key Cards can't be programmed without the full dealer kit (Renault CLIP is the diagnostic system), and it must also be brand new, second hand key cards CANNOT be used.

2) The rear sunblind pulls up out of the parcel shelf. All models, even if they didn't have the sun blinds as standard, had the hooks - so somebody with a lesser Laguna has probably swapped parcel shelves at one stage.

3) If there are 4 wheels showing on the display by the radio and no pressure readouts on the screen below the mileage in the instrument cluster then yes, the system has been deactivated. It can easily be reactivated and new valves coded by the dealer. Nice feature to have as the voice synthesizer speaks about each tyre and to slow down if the pressure is not suited to the driving speed!

Bit of a bummer on the price, but not 'essential' at the moment. I will do some looking up on CLIP though, im sure like other car makers the software will be available from the 'usual sources'. Does the use of such software get discussed here, or is it against forum rules?

Just my luck, well, I will take another look just to be sure, and then I guess I'll have to try and source one ;0)

Hmmmm, I have NO wheels showing! The display works, as it shows the doors opening, but I get no info on tyre pressures on either the dash upper display, or the instrument cluster display (I think I read that when you cycle through the OBC menu with the right hand stalk button, you should see the tyre info?) Does NO wheels showing mean something else is amiss?

I have not heard any voice from the car (maybe this is a good thing) is there a test, or something I can do to make it speak?

thanks for the info!

Andy

Re: New Car, Laguna 2.0 Privilege, lots of questions!

Being a 53 plate, there's a small chance that it's the slightly revised Laguna II where they deleted a few things like the voice synthesizer. This is what the button looks like.

The one on the left. The bottom half pushed in means the voice has been muted. Release this then press the top of the switch and she will speak!

Here's a working tyre display:

I would say that the system just needs reactivated. No tyres showing is what Renault may have changed it to during that revision I mentioned. If you don't have the voice then that's very likely and there shouldn't be a problem re-activating it.

That 24p.s.i is red showing the pressure is low,in that particular wheel..
