3 days after buying - another problem, cutting out when starting up 2.0vvt

Well the gremlins are surfacing - after knowingly bought a car with a few niggles, another one has surfaced.

I've got the 2004 Megane CC 2.0vvt 6 speed.. Drives ok, pretty quiet as well. But on two occasions when starting it up, it's died straight away.

Now i initially thought it was just one of those things until this morning when i died and i had trouble getting it going.. there was even a brief message flash up on the display but it went before i could make it out.

I've read about a dephaser thingy for the 1.6 but does this 'issue' appear with the 2.0vvt also?

Currently in bazza825's garage:

Re: 3 days after buying - another problem, cutting out when starting up 2.0vvt

I've had similar issues with a megane 1.4. Assuming the air filter is clean and the HT is in good order.

I'd try cleaning the Air temperature sensor (somewhere on the air intake after the filter), the inlet manifold temperature sensor and the coolant temperature sensor. (halfway down the body of the engine, right hand side on the megane)

On the megane the ATS had 2 philips screws holding it in, the IMATS just clipped in, the CTS is mounted on a bolt with a hex head. All have multipin connectors going into them. Take an extra finger with you to check the CTS, otherwise you'll be pouring your coolant away.
