from clio to megane ?

hi , my better half is thinking of getting a newer ,bigger car. she has an 06 clio 1.2 sport . we need a car with room for baby buggies etc so what do you guys think of a megane . any pros and cons to them . i dont like the steering and lack of power in her car so would a 1.4 /1.5 megane give more power and a 'heavier' more comfortable feel to the steering. basically would you reconmend them as a good family car

Re: from clio to megane ?

Hi there and welcome.

I doubt if a Megane will feel any nippier, as its considerably heavier, with only a small power difference.

If bootspace is needed, how about something like this?

It's feel familiar to her, and the steering should feel a bit more direct, given the extra weight of a diesel lump in the nose. Plus, it'll have a bit more 'go' & better fuel economy.

Just a thought you may not have considered.

Maybe the megane 1.5 dci would be a good choice for abit more power and also probably the same or better fuel economy

Re: from clio to megane ?

Depends as well on ,how much newer a car.

new 1.2 petrol engine 115bhp , as powerfull as the old 1.6 but better running costs.

New stop start hi power /economy 1.5dci(110 bhp)
+ 1.6 dci (130 bhp)

Anything below the 90 bhp 1.5 dci on meganes, older ones too isnt going to set the world on fire.
As above you can see on comparrisons, clio with the same engine spec as a megane is gonna be a lil faster cos its lighter.

More room inside than a clio depending on version but it isnt a huge leap.

The scenic came with the new 1.6dci(130bhp) last year, that would definitely be roomier.

Mk2 Meganes, the extended rear certainly makes em look roomy inside

Currently in coup's garage:
RM III coupe 1.5dci FVT,Audi TT Mk1 ,a bike and too much rubbish.
