Car Auctions

Right, as you may or may not know, my 02 Priv spec Lag 2 was written off 2 weeks ago. This car was bought locally from a dealer who bought it as an ex fleet vehicle from auction.

Now going along these lines, i'm thinking it might be an idea to buy my next one (hopefully an initiale spec this time) from auction direct.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Where are the best ones etc?

The only real problems I can see with Auctions is a) you don't get a test drive, b) no warranty & c) you need to know how much to bid & not get carried away.

Whilst you may get a bargain, you could end up with a dog. If youo really want to go down this track, take someone with you who has experience or auctions and/or is a mechanic.

You could probably pick up a good deal from an ordinary garage but pay a bit more, but have peace of mind of warranty and some comeback on the garage if all goes wrong.

At the very least, if buying from an Auction I would do an HPI check & take out an aftermarket warranty.

i used to visit bca auctions at preston a lot.they have 2 auctions at the same time.the general and the the fleet you also get the mobility cars usually low milage with full service must be prepared to out bid the dealers.if you have between 4 to 6 grand to spend you can save a lot of money, you must also allow for the auctioneers fee.
as sportourer says you do not get a test drive but you do get 1 hour to check the car over also the remainder of any warranty that the car has left

I'm not trying to put you off so you will buy my nice Initiale but do be thorough if buying at auction. This thread will show you what we mean
