Renault Clio Campus EML on and alternator not charging battery?

Hi there, I have a 56 plate renault clio campus 1.1 8v which I've just literally brought via brother's friend.

Car seems to be fine but have issue.

Turn car on and off, and car won't start back up, all the lights come up, but the car won't start.

I getting people telling me that the alternator may not be charging the battery? Managed to get it to run by push starting it.

Also engine management light is on at the dashboard. Best way to solve both of these problems please?

Also, could someone find me a Renault clio campus 1.1 alternator, I can't seem to find one on ebay !

many thanks

Re: Renault Clio Campus EML on and alternator not charging battery?

Get the battery load tested and the alternator voltage output checked. Most decent battery suppliers willl do both checks for free in the hope of gaining a sale. I suggest you use a trusted outlet - personally I would avoid the so-called fast-fit outlets.

Also ensure all battery connections are clean and tight - plus check the engine earth strap.
