Exporting my Megane to France,

I want to leave my beloved 1999 Magane Cabriolet at my holiday home in France but have been told it will need new headlights for the Control Technique. Any advice would be welcome.

Re: Exporting my Megane to France,

The stick-on beam adjusters are only acceptable for visiting purposes - you'll need to fit left-hand drive headlights to comply with the French MOT standards. As far as I know you'll also need a certificate of conformity.

Re: Exporting my Megane to France,

when you get there, ask about at the local petrol stations for where the local scrap/breakers yards are.

i assume you have a satnav, get to them to set the location to get there, then head round and see what they have.

it will be the cheapest option by far, as headlamps are silly money on ebay in france/germany.

once they are fitted get to a french MOT/TUV/(or whatever they call the french version) to get a cerfiticate le conformate'

you would need one of them anyway if you were to switch over to french insurance as well as getting re-registered as a french car/import.
