What is this ??

Hi all, i'm just wondering what this is ?? i found it tucked away in the boot (O/S/R) of my Lag II Tourer..

It seems to have a plunger that goes in and out.. in and out..

Anyway i'm just curious as to what this does?

I can't take the credit for this (DEEJAY225 mentioned this a few days ago), I would presume that item is the manual over-ride for your locking fuel flap.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

I'd say that's exactly what it is. It's a shame they don't bother to mention it in the manual (I don't think they do anyway) as when my fuel locking solenoid stuck on the last car, I ended up forcing the flap open. I was half way down the M40, miles from home with an empty tank, so I didn't have a lot of choice.

Still, the filler flap is fairly bendy plastic and so is the locking pin, so it's actually surprisingly easy to defeat the lock without causing any damage to the car. I hope there are anti-syphoning baffles in the filler pipe (there should be) as the locking fuel flap isn't really worth having.

My Mazda had one of these releases and it was mentioned in the manual. What they didn't tell you was you had to do ten minutes worth disassembly work on the rigid plastic boot lining to get to the damned thing

Thanks for asking that DAN, I have had my Lag 11 for nearly 2 years now and I did not know about it.

It's not mentioned in the handbook.

Thanks for that chaps- I found it whilst tracing a sat nav fault and i actually wondered if is was something to do with the alarm as the control unit for that is in the same place on the opposite side..

And as Horatio says about the Mazda, it would take you 10 mins to get the boot lining out (albeit partially) then you'd have to pull out the foam/rubber cover to magically reveal the damn thing !

I guess the easily accessable design that says fuel cap override on it would be an upgrade at the dealers, costing and extra 100 to you sir !

Whilst i'm playing the guessing game, does anyone know what this square plate thing is as found in the headling ??

This is the sticker on it:

Anything to do with the sat nav?

Thanks guys - Dan
