Rattly Renault Laguna heat shield

The heatshield on my Laguna's exhaust appears to have dropped for the second time in as many months and is emitting an annoying rattle. Is it safe for it be removed permanently?

Depends where the heatshield has fallen from if near the fuel tank then probably not.

Anywhere else I cant see why not. I had a similar problem with my laguna, in the end got underneath WD40'ed the bolt, unscrewed it, put a rather large metal washer on the bolt to capture the area around the bolt where the heatshield disintergrated.

Cost: Peanuts
Time: depends if your a chubby git like me and need to get it on ramps, or you can just shimmy under.

Its also prolly a bit easier than finding bolts wd40ing em waiting for it to soak in then undoing em, and generally messing around lol

Was I pleased when i picked the car up..
173.00 Euro's for fixing it, oil /filter change, bulb, full valet etc..

I seem to remember the rear carpets in one of my old cars smouldering away quite merrily, this was caused by a slight blow on the top of the exhaust and no heatshield.
