Scenic 1.5dCi bad fuel consumption

I just bought a 61 plate Scenic 1.5dCi to replace my reliable 04 plate Scenic 1.5dCi. I am really disappointed by the fuel consumption of the new car.

On the same journey, the old one was giving 54-55 mpg. I am now getting 45-46 mpg. If anything I am driving even more "carefully" because I am aware of the problem. The journey is about half in town and half motorway at about 75, and I am not heavy with the controls.

I know that you never get the brochure performance, but this is a direct comparison. I have checked the computer is OK by noting mileage between filling up and doing the sums - it's pretty accurate.

What MPGs are other people getting?

I will have to take this up with Renault, but I not hopeful of a lot of support from them, but your answers might give me some more ammunition.

Re: Scenic 1.5dCi bad fuel consumption

From my contacts in the motor trade and also members of this forum many drivers have found the newer 1.5 Dci models give a much worse fuel performance than the older models.

Sadly from what I can gather Renault are unlikely to do anything.

As manufacturers test figures are not fully independent and governments blindly accept the figures given to them suppose we can expect to be well and truly mislead.
