I'm pretty sure the card reader isn't coded to the car, so it should be possible to swap out for another one. Though there's a known weakness with these things - a plastic part inside just breaks off, which usually results in the interior lights failing to go off when insert the key.

The headlights issue sounds like something else. Do you by any chance have the Xenon lamps? (I've a feeling the Dynamique Tourer does but the hatch doesn't) If you have Xenons, then it sounds like the self-levelling system has failed.

Second-hand key cards are completely worthless. There's links in the FAQ if you want a more detailed explanation

Yep, sounds like the auto matic headlight levelers have failed.

The card reader itself isn't programmable, as far as I know, any card reader should work. It is the card itself that is programmed, the reader just reads it and "tells" the car what to do. So a second hand reader should be ok. The main ecu main need reprogramming to enable it to recognise a different card reader though.

As horatio says, a second hand card is no use. They cannot be reprogrammed to a different car. You will have to get a new card.

You can easily manually adjust your xenon headlights.

On the engine front cross member above the center of each headlight is a hole, inside it is the adjuster, white plastic, just use a phillips screw driver.

Never heard of the card reader being link to headlight adjustment.?

Hi. I had a new card reader fitted to the laguna under warranty because the ignition did not automatically come on when card inserted. The dealer requested I take both cards in for the job to be done so the card reader could be programmed. This may have been a dealer fob off but service manager seemed geniune.
