cars and vic checks

hi thinking of buying a motor and checked the details on directgov and it says it needs a vic check, now could i tax this or not as i have read conflicting report thanks.

I had a similar situation exist with a chinese motorbike I bought brand new.

It needed to pass an inspection at a VOSA centre before a registration number could be assigned, and it could be taxed.

Therefore, my reaction would be to say that it can't be taxed beforehand.

Your surest bet would be to phone VOSA, and they will give you the definitive answer.

We bought a pug 205 bout 10 years ago that had been a cat d write off. That needed an identiy check before we could apply for the log book.

Didn't cost too much and only took about half an hour.
