Megane Drive train, CV joint, shaft

Megane 2, 35000 miles, 1.9dci 52 plate

Last year at my 3 year MOT renaul dealer indicated i had a faulty CV joint (not sure exactly what was the prob or names used), he advised that the problem could be repaired by the mechanic this year but advised that the drive train would require replacing eventually.

I think he quated 400 + pounds just for the part.

I still have the car and it is going well (only now 35000 miles)

I do drive the car very hard so would not be suprised if it has been damaged with this low milage.

Would someone who knows about meganes recomend to sell the car or repair it???

Just seems every year I spend 1000 pounds to mentain my megane- seems very high. e.g. brakes, wheels, labour parts...

Could the drive train be done by a none renault dealer?

I suspect you were told that you will need a driveshaft replaced, and not the drive train.....

As Chris says, anyone who is confident with a set of spanners can do the work on your car.As your car is not under warranty you are free to get the work done wherever you want.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
