TECHNICALLY,if it's your car and it's insured in your name and the MOT test is pre-booked,then your in the clear........BUT,if you get pulled over either on the way to a test or on the back from one and there is anything about the car that makes it unroadworthy, then your in the poop......i.e,if your car fails the MOT on an illegal tyre, and you take the car home with the tyre still on the car, then you could get the normal punishment(points and a fine).

How you stand with the tax issue or driving someone elses car on your insurance,I'm not 100% sure.I think the Tax is OK,as I'm sure that when I declared my old Fiat SORN the only legal way I could drive it on the road was to and from a pre-booked MOT test.Obviously, you can't Tax a car without an MOT,so you must be able to drive the car to get the MOT,then you can get your Tax...

I think that answers some of the questions, but probably brings up a few more!

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

If not how do you go about getting it tested, because obviously you cant tax it without an MOT.
How can the car be insured under the other cars insurance.
