Life in the old dog yet!

The way I see it, at the moment, the biggest problem with electric vehicles is where the electricity is generated to re-charge them, its usually just transferring one form of combustion for another (and moving the pollution from an urban location, to a power station). The second is the effect of carrying all these batteries and the space they require. The third problem is the range & recharge time. Until these are addressed, then internal combustion is the only realistic option, and is the only one which has significantly increased in efficiency/useability over the past few decades.

Hybrids can partially answer those difficulties, but again, real-world fuel figures don't bear any resemblance to Government Fuel Figures. Fact is, hardly anyone can get >50mpg out of a Prius, whereas the equivalent turbodiesel can quite easily.

Its quite expensive to be trendy.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
