We almost bought a Mundaneo, only because after 4 mths looking we couldn't find the right spec Laguna at the right age (we wanted one aprrox 10 -12mths old) within days of finding a Mundaneo we found a Laguna, from a non-renault garage, they offered us 800 more in p/ex than the Ford garage against the Mundaneo, free 18k service, free mudflaps, free carpet mats, free 12mths tax, we ditched the Ford deal and even tho we lost the 200 deposit were still 800 up on the deal, because the Ford didn't come with free tax, mats etc etc.
The Laguna is a much better looking car, has a higher NCAP safety rating than the Mondeo and there aren't millions of them driving around in your street.

Currently in SportTourer's garage:
2010 Laguna III SportTourer Initiale Tom Tom.

Had a special edition Astra Coupe, but figured out that getting a baby into the back seat required some interesting Yoga positions.

Looked at nice "safe", "family" cars. Didn't want to spend a fortune either (babies get a bit expensive (wonder if I'd have had a better deal p/exing the baby instead of the Astra) ), so looked at the usuals, Mondeo (naff interior), Vectra (even naffer interior), Primera (no, I'm not that old), and Peugot (I'm not that well off either).

Luckily the LagII looks good, price was right, and has loads of boys toys, though I do miss Cruise Control.......

When I bought my Scenic, I didn't really consider any other cars. I like to have something pactical and a bit different, and at the time there weren't too many Scenics on British roads. The folding/removable rear seats give the car plenty of versatility and at the time, both my kids were using booster cushions so got an excellent view out. That they are now both taller than the wife and catching me up fast, is irrelevant ......

I walked into a car supermarket and asked the kind young gent which car stated i'm a professional young woman who has no kids. he suggested a tigra or megane coupe. as the tigra is generally associated with hairdressers and made by vauxhall , i decided to opt for the classier looking megane, altho i stipulated i didn't want a yellow one! (no offence super cc ) i fell in love with my current one the first time i saw it and even tho i've had my fair share of problems, she puts a smile on my face every morning when i walk out the front door

incidentally my previous car (i prefer to call it 'the tank' aka a vectra) ended up costing me the same in maintenance and numerous other problems, as it did to finance for two years!
