Buying Renault 420 DCI tractor

Hey guys,

I am planning on buying a Renault 420 DCI, 2001 model. Are there any known problems with this truck? Does anyone have an idea how many tons such a truck can pull? I plan to fit it with a tipping semi-trailer. Do you advise this? How easy and expensive is it to change the air suspensions to steel spring suspensions?

Thanks for any answers.

Never seen a big truck question on this forum before. You might struggle to get replies but there are a members who are truckers so you never know.

constant airlock and hard start for premium dci 420
What country are you in? There are very few Renault tractor units around, here at least.
Won't the unit have a plate with the GVW's on it?
I've never heard of tractor units being unsuitable for tipping trailers, provided of course you have a pto/pump/tank, or alternatively your trailer has a donkey engine.
I have never heard of anyone changing air suspension to steel springs or vice versa, although I am not a truck driver.
Sorry for not being much help, although there are probably HGV forums you could ask on
