Serious Clio issues-also posted in Clio forum

Hi, I posted a few days ago about my Clio RXE auto 5 dr T reg. I bought it two weeks ago, turns out theres a problem with the gearbiox and oil pressure (thanks for the advice!), and the whole gearbox needs to be replaced by the speacilist mechanic man.

I've been ringing for a week now to both the dealer I purchased the car from and the specialist gearbox man, and if I don't call, neither will let me know whats going on. And if I call the dealer to ask, he;s really rude to me, doesn;'t answer my questions and says he'll deal with it. He even blanked me at the dealship when I asked the dealership mechanic to look at it

I'm starting to wonder whether I should keep the car (I've had it for 2 weeks now) or give it back and cancel the finance and everything.

So in my position would you keep the car??

"also posted in Clio forum" - I've deleted that one dups are a pain and it was in the wrong place really!

Just mention the words Sale and Supply of Goods Regulations. Trade Descriptions Act 1968. Road Traffic Acts

If you really like the car and want to keep it , then get the dealer to fix it, the dealer can't mess you about because you have consumer law on your side. If you can easily find a repalcement then demand a refund.

If the dealer is messing you about then go into your local CAB and they will deal with it for you.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Yep - speak to your finance company and let them know that you wish to return the car. It is in their interest for you to continue with the finance arrangement and they have been known to step in and help in these circumstances...

There are plenty of used Clios around - why have one that has been "interfered with"? Reject it - speak to your CAB and tell the finance company you are rejecting the car. If necessary contact your local newspaper(s) and see if they will take up the case - a reputable local garage will not want adverse publicity. You have only had the car a few days so clearly the garage you bought from must co-operate and follow the law. You are in the right - stick to your guns. Get your money back NOW and buy another car elsewhere.
