Re: Its not my car.....

If you do decide to view or buy the car I'd be inclined to check all the VIN & Engine No's with the log book before parting with any cash.
See if the seller will give you a phone No you can call him on (say you've too many questions to email) and ask him some more probing questions about his uncle & car with tact.

Re: Its not my car.....

I've decided its too risky and too much hassle.

I'd always be worried about any comebacks in the future.

Its probably worth at least double the starting bid but no one seems interested.

Perhaps they think the same.

Thanks for your replies.

Re: Its not my car.....

The guy may have every legitimate right to sell the car - have you asked him. It's not unusual for someone to inherit a car legally but due to it having been owned by a dearly departed family member they wish to dispose of it quickly. I clearly remember when my old uncle died his wife couldn't wait to get rid of the car (it evoked sad memories) out of the driveway and she was prepared to let it go for nothing if someone could remove it immediately.
