Question Problems with scenic ...rear window and boot lock

Hi all,
we have a 2001 old shape RXE scenic automatic 1.6L
and the electric rear passenger window has developed a fault, the wire that pushes the window has actually come up through the seal and now the window doesnt work, it also keeps falling down.
Is it a diy job or will i have to take it to the garage.

Also the boot was making a grinding noise last week every time we opened and closed the car (its all done via remote fob) and now it wont open at all. Had a quick look on this site but can only find relevant info for push button locks which ours isnt.
thanks in advance

It sounds like your boot lock has become mis-aligned with the rod. You'll need to crawl into the back of the car and remove the plastic cover and unscrew the whole boot lock to remove and examine it. You should be able to see where it's not right, and slide it back across to it actually works again.

Not sure about the window though!

Hi Doris - sounds like the window winding mechanism has gone and will need replaced - try a scrapper or good old Ebay .
