Buying A Laguna

thinking of buying a Laguna 1.9 dci Expression Estate 2003 71,000 miles. what should i look out for? are the cam belts on these chains? if not when should they be changed? if you take a look at G.C. Car Sales - Used Car Sales Dealership in Bradford, Yorkshire it on there in the dealers stock list. dose it look like value for money?

Many Thanks

Hi there Phil, the cam belt would need changing about now as the recommended interval is 72,000 I believe. The latest Laguna Diesels which will be with us at the end of the year have reverted back to chain driven cams but the older ones are still the rubbery type. I would check with the dealer and relevant paperwork to see if the belt has been recently changed as you are looking at 300 ish to have this done. If the belt hasn't been changed get a quote from a Renault dealer and haggle a price reduction owing to this,
Regards Leroy
