02 privildge estate won't start. HELP!

Hi this is my first post.

I purchased a used laguna 11 just last week. Been running fine untill unlocked this morning, put card into slot and pressed start and alarm goes off. I now can't lock the car or anything. I tried with the other card and excately the same happens. Rang renault who think batterys might be the problem in the cards. Anyone had the same problem who can shed any more light onto this for me.

Try changing the batteries in the keycards

Keycard problem ?

I dont thik it will be the battery in the keycard as my laguna 2.0 will still run and start perfectly without a battery. However I would disconnect the cars battery for a few minutes, which will reset the computer. It worked on mine, it even cured a misfire at 3500 revs. Car runs much better for reset, dont know why. Oh and dont forget to ensure you have radio code.
