I'm absolutly gutted, think my laguna is on it's way to the place for dead cars in the sky.

Managed to loose control of my baby last night at about 3.30am thanks to a drunk dressed in black wandering in the road. Ended up upside down in the car about 500 yards down the road after entering, and leaving, a nice ditch.

Not happy, however relieved that I walked away with only very minor injurys, basically just cuts and scratches from the glass. Thank god for Renaults safety design! I fear had I been in another car I may not be sat here typing this now!

Will be going to the garage on tuesday morning (flippin bank holiday) and will post some pictures for all you gore addicts, and to show off just how safe this car is!

Bl00dy hell James, glad to hear your OK.

Rolling cars over isn't a lot of fun as I've found out in the past!.

I know a lot of people on the forum have had problems with their Renaults and have sworn never to buy another, but when you have an accident and the car stands up to it and protects you from injury, anything else becomes academic.Renaults recent safety record is excellent, and many on the forum owe a lot to their design and protection systems.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Wow, blimey!

Glad to know you're OK. As the others have said the safety stuff really is a Renault strong point. In fact it was the selling point for me as even my creaky old Megane is a 4 star car - think what Ford (for example) were producing at the time it was launched - the equally creaky Escort which has a really safety record.

Again, pleased you are OK.

Just logged the accident with the insurance company, who seemed more than helpful - not! I guess it doesn't help that it's a bank holiday but it's gonna be tomorrow morning before anyone will even think about getting me a courtesy car sorted!

Havn't yet been to see the car since the smash, as I got took away in an ambulance and the police recovered the vehicle but I don't think theres much left!

Ironically, the drunk who I hit was in the bed next me in A & E and got away with a bruised bum. Turns out I managed to swerve enough to only hit him with my wing mirror, but I guess that also means I was probably only 6 inches away from a whole different kettle of fish!

I wouldn't mind if there had been no pavement along the road but there was, so I sincerely hope he can't sit down for weeks!
