I too would be bricking it with regard to the auto box. Even amongst the plethora of things that go wrong with Renaults, their reputation for auto gearbox reliability stands out from the crowd.

I'm with Leroy - go through the small print, and be very wary of the term 'wear and tear.' You could still end out paying for a major repair if, in their estimation, the component failed due to routine wear.

Well, I recently took out a 3 year platinum policy with Warranty Works - it has a 2500 claim limit (per claim). Check that the policies speak the same language - some are exclusion policies (i.e. all items are covered - except what they list); others are inclusion policies (i.e. only the items they list, are covered).

Also, make sure that any garage can carry out the repair - you don't want to have to trailer your car from one end of the country to the other, and that you don't have to pay for the work up front, and claim it back.

Just little things that are often overlooked until its too late.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Hi thanks all for your input on this to be honest there is nothing on the car even the engine that worries me at all apart from the auto transmission i would be happy if it was the only part they covered, sounds a bit so what but the rest i could repair myself in worst case scenario after all it is 5 years old so i will go away and have a look around and see what is what,i think i will be getting the magnifying glass out for this small print thanks again cheers Donald.
