Hi, can i have a rant too, there is a guy on my street and he thinks he is above the law but there will be a time and when that time comes i will be grinning like a Cheshire cat when i get him,he is one of these guys that buys older cars when they still have tax and mot and i presume he then insures them??? but when the tax runs out its time for another car all he does is parks them on the road but were he parks them its called hard standing which is made of concrete and the they can't do him for no tax just because of this piece of concrete but if it had been made of Tarmac they could but hay i will wait my time and if i see him in that car off that concrete patch hes mine cheers Donald

yeah the car is parked up in my driveway till the new disc arrives, i know only too well about the law and tax discs as ive had a PL10 already when i was 19 (now 32 and wiser hopefully LOL)
the first thing i did was phone up the dvla and ask about displaying tax discs etc, you would think that since i have paid for it online that i would have the right to drive on the queens highways but alas it doesn't work like that (nationwide advert LOL)
i dont want a paper copy of the insurance cert, i feel quite strongly about recycling and that was one of the reasons for going with swift cover
too many companies send out too much crap nowadays when it isn't necasary
surely the post office should have access or the ability to check whether or not a drivers insurance is valid in the same way that the dvla does
however not too bothered and will know better in the future

I totally agree with that. In fact if you are desperate for a new passport, replacement drivers licence and similar documents (that I can't think of) the post office can "fast check" your proof of ID's for you, so they don't have to be sent away. I had to do this a couple of years back when I lost, erm, mislaid my drivers licence and had aquired three points (naughty boy!). I needed a new licence urgently and got it pretty much immediately put in the post to me thanks to this fast check system. Although it cost a wee bit extra than applying for a licence normally.

A similar system for tax discs would be great, although I suspect it would cost extra for the convenience.

Another quick rant from me if you don't mind... 99 for six months - the robbing !
