I assume by lady in distress you're not confident working on you car?

Do you have a decent and reliable garage or friend who may be able to help you out?

Not sure if its a garage job or not, just trying to help out cos i know what its like

Re the handbrake tightening - a friend of mine did this on my old Laguna. The rod that leads from the handbrake assembly to the rear end of the car is hidden behind the heatshield of the exhaust. If you can get to it, it is quite straightforward to tighten. It's simply a case of a long nut! Bear in mind though, this was on a Laguna, but I should imagine the same would apply to any car.

Re the other two points, unless your any where near competant, I would say it's a garage job. This is only my opinion however

The first thing you should have done is ask the garage where you had the MOT done for a price to repair it.

1. I presume you mean the handbrake needs adjusting, should be a quick cheap job.

2. Suspension joint, not sure on the espace but only £45 on my Laguna.

3. Idle speed could be a simple air leak somewhere or a more expensive ECU problem.

Good luck with it.

A problem well stated is a problem half solved !
