mobile media center

i am at the moment designing a system to go in the car...pc based with a monitor on each of the rear head rests....each monitor will run independantly and with be able to play dvd`s, tv, mp3`s and games...both monitors will have a palm tablet which will fit in the back seat holders when not in use, plus i think i should be able to hide a joypad in there as well...dvd drives will be in the center arm rest with the power buttons... well guys thats the overall jist of it...a lot of work and a lot of wiring but should be well worth it once done.....i would also like to replace the front radio with a slide out screen featuring sat nav...but i am trying to figure out how i can create a program with easier functions....i.e car starts up, program loads up simple ease of use command buttons to get the function i want(radio,cd,sat nav etc) , no having to go and start and close down programs to get to the one program i want(sorry if all this sounds gobbledegook). anyway what do you guys think and any computer bofs out there, is there any programs to make a simple point and click type program??

Mini ITX is probably the way to go. You're probably going to need a PC for each media player and another for the navigation, but Mini ITX will let you squeeze those into next to no space at all. A quick Google found this project for a Linux MP3 player that runs off a car electrical system. I know your project is a bit more ambitious, but it's a starting point.

thank you all for the itx was the way togo....the plan at the mo is 2 indepent minis mounted in a self made box carpeted and ventilated of course, put on the rear single flip down seat for easy access and when i got round to the harder task of the front media center i was planning to fit that behind the dash somewhere...or even under the passenger seat?? but that will be decided once the rear units are put in....

as to fitting in other vehicles.....ill see how much work needs to be done to mine first as im sure you understand there will be a lot of wiring and the last thing i want to do is ruin your interior.

i will take pictures as im going along but this is gonna be a while as i work long hours and the missus is shouting at me already for spending to much time on the car.

please keep sending in your ideas and help in, as it is much appreciated.
