Unhappy Help - Cambelt lost tension

Hi all

I was the proud owner of a 51 1.9dCI Lag. Have only owned it for 3 weeks or so, purchased it off ebay (had service history etc). Anyway, on the way home, the ECU light come on and I lost power, so pulled to the hard shoulder and called the AA (car would'nr restart). They had one look and said internal engine fault.. They towed me to the nearest Nationwide garage to my home (6 hour tow - M3 was closed ). Next day Nationwide inspected it and advised me that the Cambelt had lost tension (jumped). I advised them that I had an invoice from June (less then 5k ago) that the cambelt was changed etc. Called the garage that had done the work and explained the situation. They explained that they would need to see the car before they can provide advice. Have arranged the AA to move my car to that garage.

So do you think the garage is liable as the work to get my lag back on the road is over 1k easy ??? Would they have change the pulleys as part as a cambelt change ???

Would appreciate any help, as they could give me any kind of advise to get out of it. Please Help me !!!!

Hi Alpine - as whether the garage is liable depneds on what has gone wrong - also the previous owner may have only requested a belt change without the recommended change of tensioners and water pump. It may also depend on what th einvoice stated what work was done
