Bloody car! the same problem happened again this morning as i was taking it to the dealer!!!!!!!! Nursed the car back and left it with them to look at. Well i finally got a call back at 5 o'clock and the mechanic said after 'extensive' checks on their computer they found a logged fault with an injector?? he reset the ECU and the car was running fine? they are keeping the car overnight and taking it for a 5 mile test run first thing in the morning?? Has anyone had this problem either with the injectors or the software with the ECU ??? All replys are welcomed with gratatude.

Surely this dealer must know about the IDE engine. Renault withdrew it because of the horrendous warranty problems - sadly IMHO! They should have persevered with it and sorted out the problems.

I am sure that webcode can give you an answer!

Check out my contributions to the following thread for that warm, fuzzy feeling of "at least someone else has been in the same boat."
Laguna 2 "No Fault Logged"

To Scen1c: I don't recall Renault ever using the IDE in models besides the Laguna, but then I've never really taken that deep an interest in the models we haven't had. The Laguna proudly proclaimed "2.0 IDE " on the front door badges, and I'm pretty sure the engine has "2.0 IDE " printed on the plastic cowel that fits over the top of the engine, so if your Scenic shows signs of neither, then you're probably okay. If you really want some reassurance then take a pic of your engine and send it to me, and I'll tell you whether or not it looks suspiciously familiar.

I often wondered what IDE stood for. It looks like we now have the answer: "Incredibly Dodgy Engine."
