Hi Deano - I'm not sure if your car gets its spedo rating from a sensor on the gearbox or from the ABS sensors on the nearside front wheel. Maybe a good idea to check the condition of both front ABS sensors and sensor rings as they are known to come loose and give the symptoms you describe. Worth checking out before trailing the dash apart.
