Oil Recommendations

I have a Renault Laguna 11 1.6 Sports Tourer which is due for an oil change. Having read the sticky on oil I am wondering which is the best oil I can get for my car. The last time I had the car serviced by a Renault dealer I was told that my vehicle has semi synthetic oil . Is this correct or would a full synthetic oil be better?

Any recommendations for particular brands would be appreciated.

I always use the Castrol Magnatec but you can use the Castrol Edge fully synthetic if you want to pay more.
