Jet washing under the bonnett

Would anyone give any advice on the subject of jet washing under the bonnet.

2.2 Laguna 2004 and the engine is pretty grotty with carbon build up on the engine and around the injectors.

If I avoided the electrics would this be wise or not, jetting the whole of the engine bay, and underneath to clean things up?

Any advice appreciated.

DONT, Renaults are tetchy enough about water & electrics, without helping them to fail.

Re: Jet washing under the bonnett

I worked for a local car dealer a few years back. I would go with the boss to pick up a car, take it back to the forecourt then get to work on valeting until the car was as though it had just came out of the showroom.

Anyhow, under the bonnet!!

We always used a dustpan brush. Using a degreasant detergant in a trigger bottle, leaving it a few minutes, then using cold water with the brush to scrub away the dirt.

I was amazed how the engine bays looked like new. Maybe I should get the camera out and get the wife to film how I was tought.
