Talking fuel cost

Hi here in the Chester area still at some petrol stations unleaded is still 96.9p litre but at my local petrol station at the end of my road its 99.9p litre for unleaded; On the vel satis my tank holds 17.5 gallons(80 litres) thats over 80.00 to fill the tank and at 16-20.7 miles to the gallon on a run its a bit too much to bare; Its about time this contries motorist had some more protests at the cost of fuel and if so picket the oil plants; "what do the other members think"; I read in the paper two weeks ago that the goverment could bring down the cost of fuel by as much as 6p a litre and it would this pick up its tax duties on the fuel people do not have bottomless pockets and theirs the new rise in the road fund tax due next year; I think if we put away our cars for a week this goverment might think again after all they put us in this crisis by starting a war with the yanks and who feels the brunt of all the ups every time the people i think when the politicians vote for war we should send them first seeing they voted for it. gareth. ps sorry for the complaining just fed up with it all.

The car typically reports anything between 42 and 53mpg but typically returns around 46. As luck would have it, that ties in pretty closely with the 4.54 'gallons to litres' multiplier, meaning that the car does about 10 miles to the litre.

So that should be about 630 miles for my 70 quid. Or 11.1p per mile.
That's not quite specific enough, Horatio

630 ain't bad for a DCi. My old boss has an old Vauxhall combo 1.7D and gets 700-750 from that on a 50L tank. It's taken him to Wales and bank and then 50 more miles without kicking up a fuss too. Bet he's glad both his vehicles are diesels now, as he runs a small PC repair centre and often comes into struggle around this time of year.

My local Shell has regular up for 96.9, VP at 102.8 and Diesel at 98.9, last check. A Total that's on my college route has regular at 99.9 and diesel at 101.9.

Godknows if and when we'll see these drop...

Makes me think of moving to a cheap country when I'm 18 and digging for oil in my backgarden

Unfortunately whether we are motorists or not the fuel price has an affect on every one in the country as all our goods/services are fuel dependant and each and everyone of us is going to feel the pinch in January once all these increases filter through.

What with the credit squeeze and this christmas period financed by credit ?

Going to be a hard winter folks.

The petrol rose in the posts above is not to bad, when I was in Tavistock I had a shock when I found out the price had gone up meaning I could no longer get 4 gallons for 1 !

Thats 18 litres for 1.

Showing my age a bit now, I think it was in 1963.

A problem well stated is a problem half solved !
