I think this is actually one area where we drive more courteously than some other nations. Yes, I've seen people blatantly ignore zebra crossings, but try using one in Sweden (yes, the ultra safety-conscious home of Saab and Volvo) and it seems that the drivers are happy to put their foot down and steer towards you.

On the subject of crossings - another pet hate of mine is these damned Puffin crossings. For the uninitiated, they look like a Pelican crossing, but have no flashing amber ('go if the crossing is clear') phase and operate through the normal sequence that you'd expect from road junction traffic lights. They supposedly have radar sensors for both pedestrian and motor traffic, but they still stay stuck on red well after the crossing is clear of pedestrians. Apparently the plan is to gradually replace all existing Pelican crossings with Puffin ones. Now that's what I call progress

Fog Lights

It is amazing that many road users don't use their lights in foggy conditions, and even more amazing how many people have X-ray vision- judging by the speed they go. How on earth they can see what's IN the fog, beyond the rears of vehicles all lit up like red Christmas trees, is frightening.
One of the real dangers ( to me ) is the belief that just by putting on their wonderful rear fog lights, everything will be alright. All they achieve ( the fog light ) is to lull people into a false sense of security, and worse, " suck" other vehicles along. It's only human if you are crawling along in thick fog and see right in the distance a bright red light, to increase speed to latch on to the back of it, irrespective of what's in between.
If you can't see ordinary rear lights - SLOW DOWN.

Angry Tailgateing

What does my head in is these people who tailgate you when you are doing the speed limite. It tends to be white van man and taxis. Also people who park over the white lines in car parks.
