Where shall I start. Two years ago I transfered from Gatwick to Heathrow Airport, my daily journey to work is now 35 miles each way (M25). It took about one week to realise that motorway information signs lie like a cheap watch, and should be ignored at all times. But my real gripe is variable speed limits (junction 10 to my exit at junction 14). Are these operated by real people or is it a "care in the community" project. They seem to be used in a very hap-hazard fashion, sometimes being left on for days at a time, for no apparent reason. Also, as many of the gantrys are equipped with speed cameras, this would appear to be yet another revenue gathering excercise.
I also agree that the general standard of driving is going downhill, especially lane disapline on motorways and roundabouts.

Does seem to depend on where you are, here everyone seems to drive slow, always indicate albeit incorrectly most of the time, bad points are its a tourist area so lots of caravans (sorry Donald) and cyclists and people who dont know where they are going, and the usual old men in panama hats driving Rovers at half the speed limit, thats another thing have notice that men of a certain age, ( over 65) buy the sports versions or the higher cc versions, of cars, especially things like jags, then drive them so very slowly, why ????, yet when I go back home to Hampshire no one indicates, everyone is in a rush, is no consideration for anyone else and the rules of the roundabout are plain forgotton , drive as you are meant to and you would cause an accident or be beeped at.

the women driver near aschool thing reminds me of something that happend in the village of diggle near oldham .
After a long list of complaints about speeding traffic on the main road throught the village making it dangerous to cross or drive along the main road to and from the school (majority of housing one side school tuther ) GMP decided to mount a speed trap one morning guess who the largest percentage of speeders were yes youve got it right mothers going to and from the school to drop there little darlings (including the mother who had shouted the loudest cought doing 70 in a30 in her chelsea tractor ) make of this what you will

The last I heard, you're fine on those cameras as long as you're doing less than 70, as the authorities have no proof of what the speed limit sign was showing at the time. Plenty of people have managed to get off with tickets on the M25 by exploiting this flaw in the system, and having seen people fly past the gantries at all kinds of speeds when the signs are on, I wonder if the cameras are still working these days.

Just to add another beef: Parents who park outside schools on the yellow zig-zag lines that are there for the kids' safety and protection. They're buggers for it outside of our local secondary school.

Of course, THEIR child is far too precious to walk anything beyond the minimum number of footsteps from kerb to school gate. Never mind, it'll be someone else's child (who walks home from school) that'll get splatted while trying to cross the road

Not unsurprisingly, the local constabulary does nothing about enforcement. They just leave the camera van to snap anyone doing over 30 further down the road.
