firstly my ignition coils went after having the car about 4 months. Then my emissions light came on again so I went to renault and the nice man said it could be my coils is the car misfiring to which I said no as the cols had all been changed.
He then said its probably the camshaft sensor so I took it in on the Monday to be looked at I then got a call from the dealer saying I needed a de-phaser kit my car has only done 42,000 miles. I asked how much the job would cost and was told 500 approx but it couldn,t be done until Tuesday as they had to order the parts. I got a call to say my carwas ready and was told mt bill would be 638 pounds as the man I spoke to the previous day had not included the diagnostics fee etc etc.

A week later the same light came on so I went back to the same dealer who said they would look at my car straight away. They cam back to say this time it was the sensor now I started to wonder if this was the initial problem and I paid for a new cam belt pulley etc for nothing.

Now to top it all off I've been on holiday this week and I took my son out for the day along with my sister and neice and my passenger electric window would not go back up. Ha ve I just got a faulty car as all my renaults I've had before have not given me this type of trouble and cost.

I still have my Y plate 1.4 scenic which I have always been pleased with in terms of cost of repairs and the faults it has had most have been things you'd expect like tyres the coils brakes etc.

Is there anything I can do or is it just keep paying the bills. Does anyone knoe if I can speak to Renault to see if it is a faulty car?

So you had the coil , dephaser and sensor replaced and you've got a duff window. The window is pretty normal and an easy ebay fix for about 60 compared to the 250 the dealer will charge. Coils are common too. As to whether it was the sensor or the dephaser (or both like they said) basically you'll never know. Clearly though you've lost any confidence you may have had in the dealer. You might get something by telling them that - I dunno. Basically though, when its outside of warranty the dealer is never going to be a bargain. While Renault dealers are loads cheaper than Merc or BMW they're still more expensive than a local garage and their insistance on working by the diagnostics means you shouldn't be surprised when they use no initiative

If at all possible always run a stealership's comments by the forum B$ detector

As to whether your car is a lemon - nowhere near. Your mechanic is a lemon, and its easier to get rid of him

My exhaust developed a horrible rattle yesterday so I ran it into my local k fit they had a look and decised there may be a stone sitting between the cat and the heat shield around it.

They then cut of the heat shield and the stone fell out. They then replaced a broken rubber strap on the middle box and believe it or not wouldn't take a penny for doing the job.

I just though it would be nice to praise someone instead of complaining. Thanks guys

PS I did give the guy a drink
