Re: Just bought a 58 plate Espace Quest 2.0l 16V...few questions.
Only just caught up with this thread. Seems your keycard is different to mine (Scenic) as the ring hole is at the thick end.
As for EPB make sure the disc pads don't get too thin before changing. Get your garage to lubricate the cables.
One can use a keycard for starting even if it has NO battery, but you will need to use the "emergency key", which BTW you should check works before you need it.
Drill at your peril, cards cost £160 programmed to car.
Other Tips, which apply to most Renaults:-
Keep the scuttle drains clear.
Check footwells & cubby's for water (causes strange electrical behaviour) Indicative of blocked drains as above.
Observe battery disconnecting / connecting procedure, I didn't, car threw up an EPB fault.
There is a keycard repair service (about £25) send it off when it starts to fail, usually caused by flexing the card which causes dry joints. IMHO putting it on a keyring is the worst thing to do for reliability, second only to putting one in a back pocket & sitting.
Enjoy your new toy, All our Renaults have been good, IMNSHO most problems are water or lack of regular servicing by a competant mechanic.
You are only young once, but you can be immature forever
