My first car which was a 1994 Rover 214i.

It went like the clappers and it was given to me by my brother but the gasket went on it, which is common on Rovers. The amount of times I was half way somewhere and the needle would go into the red and I'd have to limp to a garage for some water

Still, she was free so cannot complain too much

Currently in scatz's garage:
2004 Subaru Legacy GT Spec B, a 2013 2.0 TDCi Titanium X Sport S-Max and a 2001 Honda NSR125R

The folks over the road from my parents used to have one - I was only a kid at the time, but I do remember that it looked pretty strange (those headlights ...) but was also a rather disgusting shade of orange

Mind you, our neighbours at the time had a brown Allegro ...

I remember us having a Strada as a hire car in Spain in the late 70s/early 80s. It was known as the 'Ritmo' over there. Don't ask me why.

How about French cars with Italian electrics? Guess who makes the notoriously sensitive 'oh I think I'll go permanently onto kilometers because you disconnected the battery' instrument cluster for the Lag II?

The answer being Marelli. An Italian company, and indeed a subsidiary of Fiat

Which makes you wonder how much of the French's reputation for crap electrics comes from them buying in dodgy kit from the Italians

The worse car was a company car a Mk 2 Astra. It shook in the slipstream of the lorries and when they change my Merit Petrol version for an L model diesel, things went from bad to worse. That pile of poo, when sitting at 70, had no power to overtake quickly on motorways.
Funny enough I have owned mostly BMC-BLMC-Rover cars and all of them were not so bad as one would imagine!

That's the problem with todays cars parts are multi national from the smallest screw to the engine.

Sourced from so many different manufacturers at different specs built to price not quality.

Renault might say can we use your xxxxx yes they say, Renault ah but to expensive can you not cut out a bit there make the cabling thinner or such. etc etc all manufacturers do this now in about 90% of the products on sale.
